LOCATION AND LODGING
The lodge is located in the Upper section of the famous Parana River, in North Argentina, 1:30hs flight from the city of Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. The lodge is 1 hour away from 3 different major airports and good health care also for emergencies in the cities close by. Also any other thing you need from a city. The lodging is a typical fisherman hut from the north of Argentina with accommodation for 8 anglers in single and double rooms, and also offers internet connection, mobile phone signal and satellite TV.
THE SEASON
The months of January, February and March are Southern Hemisphere summer season and the best time to catch Golden Dorados because of being a tropical weather fish and being more active as the water temperature is high.
GUIDES AND DAILY SCHE DULES
Four experienced, English speaking guides for 6 anglers will take you among this huge river to the most productive spots. The day is divided into two sessions to avoid the heat at noon, with a morning session from 6 to 11AM and afternoon session that starts around 4PM till sunset. Most of the fishing is done from the boats. All boats are very well equipped and have room enough to have both anglers fishing at the same time. They also have small electric engines for controlling the drift along the banks. The guides take you up and down river, looking for areas close to the banks where trees or branches come out from the water, breaking the current. The Golden Dorados hold and feed there. They drift with the electric engines parallel to the bank, 15-20 mts away. This fishing involves a lot of accuracy cast, targets and shooting… with the time to make only 3 or 4 fast strips and back on a new target. This is the most dynamic fishing followed by the most aggressive takes!
THE FISHING
During a normal day an angler has many opportunities and many takes, maybe up to a hundred, • and an average fisherman can expect to land maybe 10 Golden Dorados per session, and at least one over 15 lb a day.
• Top sizes surpass the 25 lb and fish of 40+ lb have been caught in the area.
• Even thou the main fish is of course the Golden Dorado, there are a large variety of other fish like the Pirá Pitá, that as other smaller species normally rise for dry flies.
THE TACKLE
It’s warm! Use saltwater tackle and clothing. Usually 8wt salt water single-handed rod, with tropical weather lines – floating only. The flies are big and bulky to push water and attract these predators.

ITINERARY
Arrive to Corrientes airport on Saturday afternoon and leave El Dorado the following Saturday morning for flight back to Buenos Aires. You may chose to either arrange a flight from Buenos Aires late Saturday or spend the night and departure the following day.
