Fishing Grounds

SAN LAZARO – WEST SALINAS – ZAPATA NATIONAL PARK

For the 2013 season Solid Adventures in co-operation with Casa Batida and Planet Fly fishing first presented this unique program in San Lazaro, the western area of the pristine Zapata National park on the south side of Cubas Coast line!

The east section of the park (east of the red lines on the map) has only been open for fishing since 2004 but up until 2013 no motorboats were allowed, strongly limiting the possibilities to explore these vast areas. However, since the number of bonefish has been so great, known and acknowledged as one of the absolute best bonefish fisheries on the planet when it comes to numbers, there was never any reason to look further. Now with the east section to add to the fishing grounds the possibilities are endless. Expected catches include Bonefish, Permit, Baby Tarpon, Jack, Snook and many more.

Seriously, look at the map and just imagine what this really means! This area is simply a saltwater angler and explorer’s dream coming true! One can only imagine what the tides from the 700 meters deep ”horse shoe” channels will bring to the table.
