Fishing Grounds

Location GTX is part of the famous “Coral Triangle”, and is located at the northwest corner of Indonesia’s West Papua province, encompassing 40,000 km2 of land and sea and including a series of more than 1,500 islands! It’s in this vast area of virtually untouched water, flats, reefs and mangroves we spend our time presenting poppers, stick baits, flies or whatever you prefer to super aggressive Giant Trevally, Buefin Trevally, Yellowfin Tuna, Snapper, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Bonefish, and who knows what! You will have a hard time finding another place as scenic and breathtaking as this. Since we are in an area ranked as the number one diving destination on the planet we recommend to bring a mask and snorkel.
The waters at Location GTX who has been described as a “species factory” is the worlds most diverse living library for world’s coral reef and underwater biota and is home to more than 1000 types of coral fish and 700 types of mollusks. What is making all of this so interesting for us is that the powerful deep-sea currents funnel nutrients into the area’s delicate fringing coral reefs, blue water drop-offs, mangrove flats, and sea grass beds to form the foundation of the food chain which feeds a spectacular diversity of marine life, including the predator’s on our list! If you have never hooked or fished for Giant Trevally before you are in for a real treat! The sheer power and anger of the take floods you with adrenaline and mixed feelings of Joy, fear and bewilderment and is an experience we wish for all devoted fisherman to experience at least once in their fishing life!
